Introducing Skills

Every firm has their own way of working - how investment memos are structured, how CIMs get reviewed, how portfolio updates are written. That institutional knowledge usually lives in people's heads, or scattered across templates that may or may not get used.
Skills change that.
A Skill is a set of structured instructions that tells Capsa how to handle a specific type of task. Build a Skill for how your team writes investment memos, and every memo will follow that methodology. Create one for IC prep formatting, and Capsa will maintain consistency across every deal.
When you give Capsa a task, you don't need to tell it which Skill to use. It checks which Skills are available and selects the relevant ones automatically.
How Skills Work
A Skill is built around a simple set of instructions: what to do, when to do it, and how the output should look. You can write one directly in Capsa's editor or upload a file that includes templates and reference materials alongside the instructions.
Skills can be private - available only to you, across every workspace you belong to. They can also be shared at the workspace level, so your entire team can work from the same standards.
The key to a good Skill is specificity. A Skill that says "Use when drafting client update emails after a deal closes" will be applied precisely when it should be. A Skill that says "For writing" won't add much.
Where to Start
Skills are live now for all Capsa users. To get started, click Skills in your sidebar and create your first one. A few ideas:
How your firm structures investment memos
The format for quarterly portfolio reviews
Your team's standard for LP reporting
CIM analysis methodology
The more specific the instruction, the better the output. Let us know what you think.
